ZEITLAUF^® is a byword for advanced, intelligent solutions in gearhead technology. This is only possible with employees who are fully committed to the company and who continue to train. But, at ZEITLAUF^®, commitment also has another meaning, i.e. social commitment. Managing Director Thomas Horz places a great deal of emphasis on responsibility for the environment and for fellow human beings: “With our support of the Hubert Schwarz Stiftung, which works for the benefit of children in need and suffering children all over the world, we are making a statement that reflects our traditions and values”.
We regularly back projects undertaken by the Hubert Schwarz Stiftung. For instance, the proceeds from raffle ticket sales at this year’s summer party were donated to a maternity unit in Uganda. This helps local midwife and nurse Mrs. Bernhardine who has gone freelance with a small maternity unit in her hometown in the countryside, where medical facilities are calamitous. There are no doctors within a radius of 30 kilometres. Her intention is to improve the situation. Until recently she worked in her own home, where patients were able to be accommodated in makeshift conditions in a small outbuilding set between maize and firewood. In the meantime, the maternity unit has been brought to fruition through the commitment of German Chris Haupt.
But the biggest problem is the lack of running water and electricity. Vaccines and medicines are stored around 5 kilometres away in the nearest refrigerator. Moreover, paraffin lamps or electric torches were all that was available during births. This is a problem that the Hubert Schwarz Stiftung has already been able to remedy by financing a solar energy plant. Additional money – including the donations from ZEITLAUF^® – will improve the situation even more.
